BeingEve spoke to Izumi, a Documentary Producer from London, about how Magnet Therapy helped alleviate her hot flushes.

What is Magnet Therapy?

Magnetic therapy has been around for many years as a natural alternative that uses static magnets to alleviate pain in various parts of the body. Magnet therapy for menopausal symptoms was launched in the UK and Europe in 2008. Today it is thought that many women use Magnet Therapy effectively to help reduce and alleviate menopausal symptoms.

How does Magnet Therapy work?

According to Ladycare UK , the reduction of certain hormones during menopause (i.e. oestrogen and progesterone) are believed to be the cause of the imbalance of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), which is responsible for the control of certain bodily functions such as body temperature, circulation, heart rate, bowel and bladder function. The magnet produces electromagnetic fields that impact the functioning of the nervous system by reducing excessive sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity and increasing parasympathetic activity, thus restoring equilibrium and creating a healthier balance between the two parts.

Magnet therapy comes as a small device that clips discreetly and comfortably onto your underwear directly against your pelvic area and can be worn day and night.

LadyCare, the leading manufacturer found that the device helped reduce menopause symptoms in 71% of cases, and is not only effective with hot flushes but can also help alleviate other symptoms including weight gain, fatigue, skin issues and mood swings. Magnet therapy can also be used whilst taking HRT.

Izumi, a user of magnet therapy, tells us about her own experience.

BeingEve: How did you first hear about Magnet Therapy and what made you try it?
Izumi: I have suffered from quite intense and frequent hot flushes for nearly 5 years and I couldn’t find a treatment that worked for me – and I have tried lots of different things! When my friend recommended Magnet Therapy, I bought it straight away.

BE: What other treatments did you try to alleviate hot flushes?
I: I tried HRT but suffered quite bad side effects including memory loss so I decided to stop taking it and try some natural remedies instead. I tried herbal drinks, acupuncture and Isoflavone supplements – the latter was too strong for me and my period started again – so I reduced the dosage to only 2 tablets a week and a glass of soy milk a day – but it didn’t help alleviate the hot flushes.

BE: How long have you been using Magnet Therapy and is it helping?
I: I have been using it for about 5 months. For the first few months, my hot flushes stopped completely – it was amazing – I didn’t have a single one. Then they started to come back but nowhere near as intense or as frequent as they used to be. I then found that if I moved the magnet lower down it made a huge difference and seemed to alleviate them again.

BE: Would you recommend it to other women?
I: Absolutely – it’s made a big difference to me and I am going to continue to use it for now plus it’s really easy to use.
